Family and Education

Ko Htwe was born from the parents of U Ko Ko Lay, retired Superintendent of Agriculture and retired teacher of Central National High School 'Daw Ye'. Being the youngest son of the family, he was called Ko Htwe while his original name was Ko Ko. He studied up to ninth standard at Mandalay Central National High School.


Serving as a bodyguard of U Razad, the Minister of Education and National Planning, Ko Htwe was only 18 when he was assassinated along with the leaders at the Secretariat compound in Yangon.
